Dr. Abdelkader Amara is a Moroccan politician, born on January 28, 1962, in Bouarfa and originally from the picturesque oasis of Figuig. He is a graduate of the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine in Rabat. On March 24, 2025, His Majesty King Mohammed VI appointed him President of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council.

From January 2012 to October 2013, Dr. Amara served as Minister of Industry, Trade, and New Technologies (Benkirane government I), after which he assumed the role of Minister of Energy, Mines, Water, and Environment until October 2016 (Benkirane government II). Between 2017 and 2021, he led the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics, and Water (government Saâd Dine El Otmani I-II). He also served as Minister by interim on two occasions: Minister of Health from October 2017 to January 2018, following the dismissal of Mr. Houcine El Ouardi, and Minister of Finance from August 2 to August 20, 2018, following the dismissal of Mr. Mohamed Boussaïd.
In addition to his executive roles, Dr. Abdelkader Amara served for ten years as a scientific advisor to the World Science Organization, based in Sweden. He is a founding member of the Moroccan Parliamentarians Against Corruption Association and a former member of the Administrative Commission of the National Higher Education Union.
In his parliamentary career, Dr. Amara was elected as a deputy for Salé-El Jadida for four consecutive terms (2002, 2007, 2011, and 2016). He also held various positions, including President of the Productive Sectors Commission in the House of Representatives, where he served as a bureau member and first vice-president.
